Respirator Masks Save Lives and
Protect Against Asbestos Cancer

Save a few dollars by not buying respirator masks for employees only to risk lives and be sued for millions and millions later. It sounds crazy, but that is what many companies have done. Reports of asbestos cancer or mesothelioma is becoming more and more prevalent because of the lack of concern for and preparation of employees by their employers.

By providing these relatively inexpensive respirator face masks would have saved many families tons of heartache and grief. This blatant negligence is one of the reasons that businesses that are guilty of exposing their employees to asbestos stand very little chance of defending themselves in court against lawsuits. The good thing though is that many manufacturers and businesses have the opportunity right now to take action to protect their workers and provide this vital instrument for safety and some have.

Quality respirator masks can easily be priced at under $20 per unit. Filters can be purchased for them that protect against asbestos, fumes, lead and cadmium dusts. Asbestos Respirators or lead Respirators of certain types also will work well for most types of welding. It has become quite evident that asbestos respirator masks should be provided if people are working on old heating ducts or vents, automotive brake linings, pipe insulation, popcorn ceilings and the like. It is also important for the employer to make very sure that the workplace has good ventilation because asbestos and substances like lead fumes aren't the only hazard that may be presented, carbon monoxide and a variety of solvent vapors may present as well.

At the end of the day though, when it comes to our own personal health and safety it is best to be vigilant and take every step possible to protect ourselves, so for anyone who would like to look into purchasing your own respirator face masks you can find 3M respirators and more right here.

DUST MASKS ARE NOT SUFFICIENT AGAINST ASBESTOS

Never let an employer or anyone else send you of to work in a toxic environment with only a dust mask and a prayer. You need not take our word for it alone. According to the World Trade Center Catastrophe Worker Health Fact Sheet that was formulated by the New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health.

"A 'DUST MASK' IS NOT A RESPIRATOR and does not provide protection from asbestos, silica or other hazardous particulates.

RESPIRATORS FOR WORKERS AT GROUND ZERO where there may be a wide variety of airborne hazards, should be rubberized masks with screw-in particulate P-100 or R-100 HEPA cartridges (not N-100)."

These same dangerous substances that were present in the WTC dust are present in some places of work today and are just as dangerous. If you are aware of or suspect dangerous work conditions and exposure to toxic chemicals or substances, make this known to your employer immediately so that they can take the proper steps in protecting you and your co-workers, your life may depend on it.
